Getting started

Connect your first remote PC

You need two Windows PCs: the remote computer you want to access, and your own computer to connect from. Someone at the remote PC approves the first pairing.

1. Install the two apps and sign in

  1. On the remote PC, download and install Server. Approve the Windows Administrator prompt during installation. Then open ADL Remote Admin Server from Start → Asia Design Lab once to display its settings and tray icon.
  2. On your own PC, download and install Viewer, then open it.
  3. In Viewer, choose Tools → Account and subscription. Enter your email address and request a sign-in code.
  4. Enter the six-digit code from your email in Viewer. Your first activation starts the 30-day trial for up to 3 managed PCs, without a payment card.

Keep both PCs online. Internet access is required for account and licence checks, including direct LAN and VPN connections.

2. Create a share code on the remote PC

  1. On the remote PC, find the Server icon in the tray beside the Windows clock. It may be inside the tray’s upward arrow. Double-click the icon to open settings.
  2. Choose Internet access and enable it.
  3. Choose Create share code.
  4. Share that temporary code with the person using Viewer.

There are two different codes. The six-digit email code signs you in to Viewer. The ten-character Server share code pairs a remote PC. The share code lasts five minutes and is consumed when a pairing is approved.

3. Add the code in Viewer

  1. On your own PC, open Viewer and choose Connection → Add by share code.
  2. Enter the share code shown on the remote PC.
  3. Give the computer a recognisable name, such as “Bangkok office PC”.
  4. Submit the request and keep the pairing window open while the remote user approves it.

If the code expires, create a new one in Server and try again. Cancelling the Viewer pairing window cancels that request.

4. Approve once, then use the saved PC

  1. On the remote PC, return to Server → Internet access.
  2. Select the pending request. Check that it shows the account you intend to allow, then approve it.
  3. The remote computer is saved in Viewer. Select it and choose a connection mode, such as Full Control, View Only, File Transfer or Text Chat.
  4. For future connections, select the saved computer again. You do not need another share code while that Viewer’s permission remains approved.

Approved access survives PC and app restarts and changes of internet address. Server starts with Windows. Closing or minimising its settings keeps it running in the tray; double-click the tray icon to reopen settings.

The remote PC must be powered on and online. A new Viewer identity needs its own approval, even when it uses the same account.

5. Revoke access when you no longer need it

  1. On the remote PC, double-click the Server tray icon.
  2. Open Internet access and select the approved Viewer.
  3. Choose Revoke access. Its current sessions disconnect and it cannot reconnect using that approval.

To allow it again, create a new share code and repeat the pairing and approval steps. You can also manage saved access in Viewer → Tools → Account and subscription → Managed computers.

Signing out of Viewer keeps enrolments saved to your account. It does not restart the trial. If your trial or subscription ends, access pauses while saved enrolments remain available for renewal.

Automatic updates

Server and Viewer check for required updates in the background. After an update has downloaded and been verified, a popup gives you 60 seconds to save your work. All ADL Remote Admin programs and remote sessions on that PC close before installation, then the apps restart. Server returns quietly to the tray.

Updates install automatically and cannot be skipped. Closing the popup only dismisses the notice. Your saved computers, account, settings and approved access are preserved. Windows is not restarted automatically.

If you have version 0.3.0 or earlier, install the latest Server or Viewer from the downloads page once to receive the automatic updater. Future updates run without a separate Administrator prompt.

Common questions

Which installer goes on which PC?

Server goes on each PC you want to access. Viewer goes on the PC you use to connect. If you want to access several remote PCs, install Server on each of them.

Where is Server after I close its window?

Look beside the Windows clock, including inside the tray’s upward arrow. Double-click the Server icon to reopen settings. Its installed service starts automatically with Windows.

The PC is saved, but it is offline.

Check that the remote PC is powered on, connected to the internet and running Server. For internet connections, check that Internet access is enabled in Server. Then try the saved computer again.

What counts toward my PC limit?

Each distinct enrolled Server PC counts once, even while offline. Viewer installations and simultaneous sessions are not extra managed PCs. If you exceed a smaller plan’s limit, revoke selected managed computers or choose a larger plan before connecting.

How do I subscribe or cancel?

Open Viewer → Tools → Account and subscription → Plans. Choose an annual plan and Subscribe to start payment through Stripe. For an existing subscription, choose Change plan, review the charge and effective date, then confirm. Upgrades require successful payment; downgrades start at renewal. Manage billing opens Stripe for payment methods, invoices and cancellation. If a plan change is scheduled, use Cancel scheduled change first, then open Manage billing to stop renewal. Removing a scheduled change keeps the current plan and does not cancel the subscription. Paid subscriptions renew annually until cancelled.
